Set up a WP Engine connector

The connector syncs WP Engine accounts and users from the Hosting Platform API. Each account exposes membership grants showing which users belong to that account.

This connector is read-only. It does not provision or modify access in WP Engine.

Gather WP Engine credentials

You need WP Engine API credentials from the portal API Access page. The connector uses HTTP Basic authentication with an API username and password.

1. Sign in to the WP Engine portal as an account owner.

2. Open the API Access page at https://my.wpengine.com/api_access.

3. Generate an API username (WPE_API_USER_ID) and password (WPE_API_PASSWORD) and copy both values.

Configure the WP Engine connector

Cloud-hosted

Follow these instructions to use a built-in, no-code connector hosted by C1.

1. In C1, navigate to Apps > Connectors and click Add connector.

2. Search for WP Engine and click Add.

3. Choose where to add the connector: Create a new app, or Add to an existing app (then select the app).

   If you’re creating a new app, choose whether to link it to an application discovered from your identity provider: select Yes and pick the IdP application, or No to continue with just the connector.

4. Set the connector’s Name and, optionally, a Description.

5. Click the pencil icon next to Owners to choose who can configure and manage this connector.

6. Click Add. The connector is created and its configuration page opens.

7. Find the Settings area of the page and click Edit.

8. Enter the WP Engine credentials:

   • Base URL: https://api.wpengineapi.com/v1
   • API username: The WP Engine API username you generated.
   • API password: The WP Engine API password you generated.
9. Click Save.

10. The connector’s label changes to Syncing, followed by Connected. You can view the logs to ensure that information is syncing.

Done. Your WP Engine connector is now pulling access data into C1.

Self-hosted

Follow these instructions to run the WP Engine connector in your own environment.

1. Create secrets for the WP Engine API username and password.

2. Configure the connector environment variables:

   BATON_BASE_URL=https://api.wpengineapi.com/v1
   BATON_API_USERNAME=<WP Engine API username>
   BATON_API_PASSWORD=<WP Engine API password>
   
3. Deploy the connector using your standard self-hosted connector process.

Done. Your WP Engine connector is now pulling access data into C1.
